VoIP Solutions
Voice over IP (VoIP) emerged as a new technology around 10 years ago. Running voice services over existing data networks, VoIP has now reached a point of maturity and offers businesses a reliable and cost-effective means of consolidating and rationalising telecoms services. This is often referred to as “Convergence”.
VoIP solutions can be delivered via an onsite PBX or Hosted in our cloud and the two approaches can be combined within a single customer network to create a fully-integrated and flexible VoIP solution. Either way VoIP can provide a business with real benefits including free calls between all sites connected to the VoIP network, reduced/removed line rental fees and cheaper calls to non-VoIP destinations.
Hosted VoIP Solution
A handset-only or Hosted VoIP solution, whereby only telephone handsets or software clients are deployed at sites with a virtual telephone system in the providers cloud being utilised. Unlike the majority of VoIP Service Providers who deliver their services across the public Internet, GCI Com predominantly deliver VoIP services across the private MPLS Wide Area Network. This provides enhanced services such as guaranteed packet delivery and end-to-end Quality of Service which could not be offered over a public network.
Other benefits of utilising GCI Com’s Hosted VoIP solutions over traditional PBX based solutions include, no PBX maintenance charges, reduced capital costs of deploying new telephone systems and flexibility to increase/decrease the number of users as required all adding to a lower total cost of ownership.
On site PBX Solution
On-site telephone systems (PBXs) interconnected using VoIP and connected to the public telephone network using IP in place of legacy ISDN circuits. Additionally, telephone handsets or software clients can also be rolled-out to smaller sites, connected to a central PBX at a larger site.
GCI Com’s onsite solution utilises a number of hardware suppliers, including Siemans and Panasonic, and can benefit an organisation that has the required in house skill to run the solution and requires greater control with customised features. This type of solutions will have a higher capital expenditure with a lower operational cost.
